(Working Title) Shattered

“Shattered began as an attempt with Grove Press founder Barney Rosset to make a video of the Beckett play Eleutheria. The plan was to shoot in Thailand, as fast as possible, with little money and home video equipment. The idea also was to take what at the time when it was written a very advanced stage design and use video and computers to realize it visually. I was interested in this and it was what I tried in a different way in Christbael and had planned this method for other projects I was working on. As a few years went on and different people came and went out of the project, it no longer was about the play but morphed into a biography on Rosset. I tried to retain the original concepts we started with and I drew upon his personal writings, still and film images he possessed and literary works that had personal meaning for him.” - jf
